outlier : an observation that deviates distinctly from others.
Hi, I am Rinchen Dé. I am 20 something living and working in Chicago. Welcome to The STYLE OUTLIER! As the name suggests, my main intention behind this blog is to capture outliers in the context of style and share them with you. Here’s what you can expect to find:
STREET STYLE
Chicago is such a beautiful city full of vibrant people and their distinct styles. When I walk around the city, I allow myself to look beyond current fashion trends and get drawn to anything that reveals someone’s unique personal style — from a single detail in an outfit to an ensemble of several great pieces.
You don’t necessarily need expensive labels or exotic locales to be a style outlier … the magic lies in the way you put the outfit pieces together as an expression of your personality. Style outliers offer an interesting blend of the individual and the outfit pieces that are unique to themselves and I find that very inspiring. So, this section of my blog is dedicated to my attempts at discovering and capturing style outliers in my day-to-day life.
I am also a street style photographer for Refinery29 – described as the cornerstone of fashion, beauty, and shopping for a new generation.

The art and craft aspects of fashion have always fascinated me. I have no background in design but I really enjoy learning on my own and experimenting. You will find easy DIYs of fashion trends in this section of The STYLE OUTLIER. My DIY inspirations are drawn from street style, runway, editorials, and personal style blogs. Travelling and shopping are my two other favorite ways of getting inspirations.
Beginning August 2012, I will be posting all my DIYs on my new blog, HIGH on DIY. If you want to recreate the latest trends in fashion and reveal your personal style through those creations, checkout the fun and quick DIYs on HIGHonDIY.com.
OUTFITS & MISC.
Every once in a while, I will also post my own outfits so you get to know the person behind the lens a little better. You will also find photo diaries of fashion shows and other events I attend in the MISC. section of the blog.
